The next new single has finally been recorded after 14 years in the making! It is so interesting how a song can change when bought into the studio especially now that my styles have changed so much. What started off as a dark song with the idea of an orchestral sound, has become a moody but pumping Electronica version.
We had our first session where I laid down the basic vocal ideas. In the following days I made tweaks, created adlibs + layered harmonies via my loop machine. We made our next appointment which had to be delayed until a few weeks later. This time it worked out better than expected.
Before getting in front of the microphone I tuned into my sound bowl which calmed my nerves (Yes I still feel them!) and released clear, strong, confident vocals. Throughout the concept creation I had developed two characters and I channelled both of the male and female main voices with a depth of emotion.
Vampirella comics, inspiration boards, and visual storytelling = next-level recording energy.
After a lunch break we actually created the music video concept which initiated the visual mood board in my mind to be able to delve deeper into each character, becoming the storyteller yet again as I once was during composition so long ago. I am so satisfied with the outcome.
Filming dates for the video have been suggested during the meeting with Vienna based director Yaesmin.
